Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC (Sandy Campbell/Kathy Crowley, co-chairs) TLI-West, January 14th, The Cannon School, 5801 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, NC (James Edgar/Tracy Threatt, co-chairs) More detailed information is available on our website at www.toastmasters-nc.org with the schedule of available classes. Topics All Around You
One of the main reasons that we seem to struggle through our Competent Communicator manual is that we feel like we have nothing to talk about. We search and search until we find the perfect speech topic. I’m here to tell you that there is no such thing!
There are many things that are happening in our everyday lives that provide you an opportunity to create a speech. Take for example what happened last week on the East Coast. We had an earthquake on Tuesday and a Hurricane on Saturday. Those two major events can set the groundwork for your next speech. We tend to miss and overlook the simple things that occur in everyday life in search of a perfect topic. Talk about you. It’s the easiest thing to do and it allows listeners a chance to know you better. Here’s 5 topics you can use for your next speech:

Dues Increase
Greetings Fellow Toastmasters, please check our "Dues" tab for important information on upcoming due increases. As of October 1, 2011, Toastmasters' annual membership dues will increase from $54 to $72, which is $36 every six months. A few reasons for the increase include greater member needs, membership has increased 55% since 1995, but does have only been increased once since then, and support and services must expand to better serve the organization and its expanding membership base.
